Thanks for the great night on 29 January!
Long version
—————–
I am happy to say that we will continue Open Mic at McGee’s every two
weeks. Most people I spoke with wanted it that way so we will try it
as long as it is hopping like last time.
Speaking of: thank you to all who showed up and helped make last Open
Mic a great night. Thanks especially to the Black Sheep v2.0 for their
awesome set. In the future, I think we can use the evening to showcase
some local talent with some longer sets.
Anyway: see you this Sunday. Spread the word, tell your friends, let
all musicians know that they can come for music and drinks.
Let’s try something new to keep it easy on me: sign-up begins whenever
I get there (usually around 6:30) and ends at 8 pm.
I supply an acoustic guitar, some microphones and two D.I. boxes, to
plug in electric guitar and/or bass. Probably a keyboard would work in
there as well, if you can bring one.
Bonus: I have a new music-themed joke ready to go.

See you Sunday.

And we’re back…Open Mic this Sunday, 29 January, 7:30 pm, McGee’s Pub…with band at end of night

Hi all,

Did you miss me as much as I missed you? We’ll call it a draw.

I look forward to seeing all of the regulars and irregulars this Sunday night at McGee’s. We will re-start Open Mic, perhaps moving to once per month, unless the fans and musicians demand more.

So polish up your bows, rough up your picks and get your gin on.

As a special treat, there will be a band:

The Black Sheep
[Greg (drums), Dani (smoking guitar), Alan (angel voice), Nisa (smoking guitar AND angel voice), Marco (bass)]

at the end of the night, coming off of their masterful performance at an unnamed bar on Longstrasse Tuesday night. In short, they were awesome and set a record for beer sold on a Tuesday. They will probably play a full one hour+ set on Sunday night starting whenever we run out of other musicians.

So come early, play your songs, then sit down and listen to theirs.

As always, you can find us at:

Oh no! Big, huge open mic this Sunday at McGee’s! Everything’s different!

Hello friends,

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday night at McGee’s at 7:30. I will wear a RED SHIRT in honor of the day.

I hope some of you who have taken a break over the summer now recognize the early darkness and the nip in the air and take that as a sign to come inside, come inside, play some music for us.

And don’t forget our friend Thomas Mathis playing on Friday night at McGee’s.

See you on Friday and/or Sunday.

Next open mic: Sunday, 6 November 2011 at McGee’s Irish Pub at 7:30

Hello friends,

What? Again? More live music and beer in front of like-minded individuals?

Yes!

Maybe some residual Halloween songs will emerge before the already dim memory of recent parties fades into the next holiday.

Come play some music and enjoy a drink on the house for your efforts. I look forward to seeing you Sunday night.

Hello friends,

Ah.  Chill in the air.  Leaves on the ground.  Beer in the can.  Protesters on the streets.  Sounds like the time of year for indoor music.

Building on the blazing success of two weeks ago, let’s have another great night this Sunday. Come early and sign up so you get a slot.  I’m going to let the list fill up and let the night run itself as I will slip out early.

Come play some music and enjoy a drink on the house for your efforts.

Great night last night–thanks

We had our best night of open mic last night–lucky number 13 musicians. It was so successful that we had to limit people’s time on stage. What a mixed joy it was to hold up the ‘one more song’ finger more than once. Thank you all for coming and making a great night.

If this keeps up, we will be forced to use the dreaded sign-up sheet with scheduled times, etc. That would be great.

Best for me was the number of countries represented on stage, behind the bar and heckling from the floor: Switzerland, Canada, Ireland, France, Denmark, Russia, US, India, Germany. What did I forget?

I challenge you to bring and sing some songs from your native tongue. And remember: next time, I will try my hand at a couple of Swiss German songs. Should be great.

Thanks again and see you again in two weeks, 23 October.

Hello friends,

It sounds as if all went very well in my absence two weeks ago. Thank you very much to Thomas and Tory for supplying the hosting, energy, music and manners.

Let’s do it again this Sunday night. See you there.
